Wilson's fame spread to America in 2014, when she appeared on Showtimes The Affair. She was Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her past and becomes involved with Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress of a Television Series in Drama 2015 together with Mauratierney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson said in British Vogue: "I love the fact that I am able to play characters in two perspectives." Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, irresponsible sexy side. But she sees herself in a different way, as someone who is timid and unattractive on the inside. The actress added "I consider that America is such a moral country and that they are very judgemental. And in 2017, played the cryptic PT Stella, in the sci-fi rom-com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. The list of films she has appeared in will soon include an additional film from the horror category. The British film adaptation The Little Stranger is an supernatural thriller based upon a Sarah Waters novel. Wilson is also in charge of the production.
